Trick or Treat

11 Months

11 months…11 MONTHS. i know i start each monthly post with how fast the time goes. but WOW. Kelsey is almost a year old.

last month she was starting to walk – she IS a walker now. no more crawling. she is learning about steps and that you need to stop and go up or down a step. usually it happens with me in the background – step, Kelsey, step, STEP. luckily we have a small step into our living room where she can practice going down and taking head dives onto the carpet.

i am pretty sure she said her first word this weekend….. and of course, it was dada. she has been saying dadadadada for a while but this weekend she actually said it to him. then this morning when we were waving bye-bye she said dada to get his attention then started waving. im making it official – dada was her first word.

“if your happy and you know it clap your hands” is a song i sing about 50 times a day. it’s k’s favorite. she gets really excited and claps along. she has also started dancing a little bit. bouncing up and down and waving her arms. i can’t wait until we can have major dance parties in the living room!

K is becoming more and more independent. she likes to sit in her own spot on the couch while she watches her morning cartoons. she will play with her toys alone for a bit and has learned to put the rings on the pole on the ring pyramid toy, putting puzzle pieces in the right spot on the puzzle and pointing to elmo when asked “where’s elmo” in a book.

I can’t wait to see what month 11 has in store for us!

Footloose

Kelsey has been working on her walking skills for months now. She has now started walking on her own.

 

10 Months

over the last 10 months we have had the joy of discovering what a fun, loving, adventurous, fearless, tenacious sweetheart we are blessed with.

she is so full of life from the moment she wakes up in the morning until she goes to bed at night (thankfully she does take 2 naps during the day to give mama a break). we have had a wonderful summer filled with working out at Stroller Strides, playdates at the park, the pool, friends houses, birthday parties, shopping, the zoo, gymboree, visiting grandma and grandpa Leming, the beach, trying to go to the movies (not so fun and relaxing – note to self parent/baby movie showings are for babies that sit still).

month 10 has already gotten off to a booming start. I can see 2 bottom teeth poking though 🙂 AND….. she has started walking. yes walking. remember how i said she was fearless – well she throws her hands straight up in the air and takes a couple of step. mostly she falls after 1-3 steps but she has taken 9-10 at one time. this girl has places to go and i think she wants to walk there.

Reading is fun

K has really started loving books. particularly a book called “I love you through and through” (here) that her friend Cole gave to her. we read it everyday at least once.

9 Months

This girl is giving us a run for our money. she is go go go from the time she wakes up to the time she goes to bed (thankfully she is sleeping a solid 11-12 hours a night). she has gone pro at crawling. she is so fast that i am sure when she starts walking she will just take off into a full sprint. she pulls herself up on everything and cruises around the house. she loves her walker and can push it around the living room by herself.

K is a great eater! she loves anything she can pick up. she will eat almost everything but she makes sure that she tastes it first. she will pick it up and slightly stick her tongue out and taste test. 90% of the time she eats it – but she must taste first. even if it’s something she has had dozens of times – like a banana.

Even though she has us running after her morning, noon and night all she has to do is give us her open mouth smile and we melt. she is such a happy girl (as long as she is occupied, fed and rested) that everyday is fun.

our little daredevil has started letting go and standing on her own.

K is also figuring out how to clap. obvioulsy its best to do them at them same time. check out the video.

Water Babe

K has really started loving the water! latley we have been swimming at least once a week.  since we don’t have a pool we hit up friends condo pools and our local community center that has an AWESOME baby pool (hopefully we will go this week and i can ge some pictures up). usually it’s just me and K swimming (since B is at work) but on this particular swim outing we went over to our friend Jeff’s pool to celebrate his birthday. K had a blast swimming with dad!
